JOINT COMMISSION ACCREDITATION
Southwestern Virginia Mental Health Institute has been awarded accreditation from the Joint Commission for the period of 2005-2008.
The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit, national body that oversees the safety and quality of health care and other services provided in accredited organizations. The Joint Commission maintains state-of-the-art standards that focus on improving the quality and safety of care provided by health care organizations, and is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization's commitment to meeting certain performance standards. To earn an maintain The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval, an organization must undergo an on-site survey by a Joint Commission survey team at least every three years.
