How to become an applicant

Thank you for your interest in employment opportunities at Southwestern Virginia Mental health Institute. Employment applications will be accepted for posted vacancies only. These applications will be accepted only during the posting period on the Vacancy Notice. Our application procedure is outlined below:

  1. Submit your on-line application through the State's Recruitment Management System (RMS).   Once on RMS, click Search Postings and then click on Agency – Southwestern Virginia Mental Health Institute (705).   All applicants must apply on line through the RMS system -- paper applications will no longer be accepted.  
  1. Applicants must submit the application before the cut-off date/time stated in the Vacancy Notice. Applications will not be considered after the cut-off date/time. Applicants are responsible for furnishing all information requested on the application.
  2. Once the position is filled and all applicants have been notified, applications will become inactive. Should the applicant choose to reapply for a future position, a revised, completed State application should be submitted through RMS.  

Position vacancies open to the public will be posted outside the Human Resources Office and listed with the  Recruitment Management System (RMS), Virginia's Statewide Job Opportunities listing.
