Library Services
The library serves the professional, staff and patient populations of the Institute.
The patient library is a Dewey classification collection accessible to patients and staff.
SWVMHI Professional library is a National Library of Medicine (NLM) library and has available to its clients all of the services provided by an NLM library.
The purpose of both library collections and services is to meet the expressed work related and patient rehabilitation information needs of all staff and patients at SWVMHI, in both print and electronic formats.
Collection emphasis is on psychiatry, psychotherapy, psychiatric nursing, clinical psychology, social work, psychiatric rehabilitation, OT/RT, forensic psychiatry, quality/performance improvement, self-help and other mental health topics, and addressing different age populations with mental health concerns.
To enrich provision of services the library is also a member of :
and is sustained and supported, in part, by the Library of Virginia.
The library also receives current information and updates from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
The doors are generally open Mon-Fri. 8:30-4:30.
